PWA’s | Why Isn’t Sara in the App Store?
Sara™ is not in the App Store for your protection
Apps downloaded from an app store often collect and share metadata about when, where, and how you use them. Depending on the app’s privacy settings and local laws, that data can sometimes be accessed or used in ways that put people who menstruate—especially those who have experienced pregnancy loss or termination—at risk.
You do not deserve to live in fear that your data is in the hands of anyone but your own. We built Sara so folks have a safe option for their data.
What is PWA?
A PWA is a progressive web app, meaning it runs through your browser. Unlike traditional apps, PWAs don’t collect metadata like download history or usage patterns, which can be sold to third parties. As a PWA, Sara minimizes data sharing with third parties, reducing the risk of surveillance. This privacy-first design, together with Sara’s HIPAA-informed technology, keeps your data hyper-secure.
Sara is designed to look and feel just like any other app on your phone—but with an added layer of privacy built in. Because it runs as a web app, it limits third-party tracking and doesn’t share your usage data or personal cycle information with external servers.
Add Sara™ to Your HomeScreen
Good news! Adding Sara to your home screen is super easy. And by doing so, you’ll be able to access Sara the same way you access all your other apps.
Note: Our recommendation is to use private browsing on your mobile device for onboarding via sara.yourcomma.com. By setting up your Sara shortcut through this private browser, you add an extra layer of security.
To do so, simply follow the instructions below for your phone type.
iPhone
Open Safari: Launch Safari on your iPhone.
Switch to Private Browser: Click on the two square icon in the bottom right of your phone. Press “Private” and then the “+” sign. A new tab will now open.
Go to the Webpage: Type in sara.yourcomma.com.
Tap the Share Icon: Once the page has loaded, tap the Share icon. This icon looks like a square with an arrow pointing upwards, usually located at the bottom of the screen.
Select "Add to Home Screen”: In the Share menu, scroll down and tap on "Add to Home Screen."
Edit the Name: A new window will pop up allowing you to edit the name of the shortcut. Type in “Sara.”
Type “Add” in the top right corner.
Find the Shortcut on Your Home Screen: You’ll now see the new shortcut on your home screen! Just tap it to go directly to the webpage.
Android
Note: You can’t save or create shortcuts from an Incognito (private) tab in Chrome. To add a shortcut to your home screen, make sure you’re using a regular browser tab.
Open Your Browser: Launch the web browser you typically use (such as Chrome).
Go to the Webpage: Type in sara.yourcomma.com.
Tap the Menu Icon: Once the page has loaded, look for the three-dot menu icon (:) located in the upper-right corner.
Select “Add to Home Screen”: From the dropdown menu, find and tap “Add to Home Screen.”
Edit the Name: A pop-up will appear, allowing you to rename the shortcut. Type “Sara.”
Tap “Add.”
Choose Shortcut Placement: You might be given the option to place the shortcut directly on your home screen or in a specific location. Choose wherever is easier for you.
Find the Shortcut on Your Home Screen: The shortcut will now appear on your home screen!
And that’s it! You can now easily access your favorite webpage right from your phone’s home screen. Native-app ease, but with ultra-secure protection.
